Greg Cuellar [kway-yar] is a Drama Desk Award-winning actor based in Los Angeles and New York, working in classical theatre, new work development, and film/TV.

Cuellar originated the role of Riley in the world premiere of Initiative at The Public Theater—Else Went’s five-hour epic, developed over six years with its original ensemble. The ensemble received a 2026 Drama Desk Special Award and a Lucille Lortel Award nomination for Outstanding Ensemble, and the production ranked #5 on Vulture’s Best Plays and Musicals of 2025 list. Critic Sara Holdren praised “the fantastically malleable Greg Cuellar, reminiscent of a young Alan Rickman,” while Helen Shaw called him “a great chaos onstage.”

Additional theatre includes a sold-out, extended run of The Mousetrap at the Guthrie Theater, and Off-Broadway work with Classic Stage Company, Page 73, and New Light Theater Project, including the LAMBDA finalist I Wanna Fuck Like Romeo and Juliet. Regional work includes George Street Playhouse, St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, and Berkshire Theatre Group.

On screen, he guest-starred on New Amsterdam (NBC). His audio work includes Ferdinand in the Signal Award-winning The Tempest for Next Chapter Podcasts opposite Jay O. Sanders.

Originally from St. Louis, Greg earned his MFA Acting from Columbia University as a Jack Kent Cooke Graduate Arts Award recipient and Bob Hope Fellow.

Offstage, he has worked in casting and production for HBO, Amazon, The CW, and The New York Times, and has evaluated new work for The Public Theater’s Emerging Writers Group, the City of West Hollywood, and PlayGround-LA.
